Hello all! Welcome to my blog for Travel Reporting (CM316)! I've now been in Melbourne, Australia for a little over a month, and I believe that I have adjusted pretty well to the changes. Before I left home, the reality of how far away from the U.S. I would actually be began to sink in. I remembered a concept that I loved as a child, that if I dug a hole straight through the Earth I would end up all the way on the other side. I always believed that that would lead me to China, but in fact if I were to dig straight through from my home in New Jersey, I would emerge about one thousand miles off of the coast of Western Australia in the Indian Ocean. For my first trip out of my home country, not only am I away for about four and a half months, but I am also as far away as I can go without leaving the planet. These thoughts have come with a range of emotions, for when the fear and reluctance to change subsides, I am left with excitement for the things to come and pride in my ability to expound on this adventure.
Stick with me over the next few months so that I may share my experiences with you as I learn inside the classroom and out!
